Dana Fork
Another painting finished, which had been left in a beginning state. It is the Dana Fork where the Tuolumne River splits and runs to the Eastern Sierra. This is a beautiful spot visible from the bridge between Tuolumne Meadows Campground, and Tuolumne Meadows Lodge. I intend to take a long walk along the bank one day soon.
Communion
I started this painting in 2013. Only laid in composition placement and background, then left it until two weeks ago. I finished it. In the process, learned it had been abandoned due to hitting problems needing solutions. The best part was lessons and skills learned solving many of the issues left those years ago. This will be a gift for a special pastor. There are many layers of meaning in the objects. The basin and towel, the bitter herbs, four cuts on bread, class holding the wine, the purple enveloping everything. Communion 20" x 16" Oil on canvas.
New Landscape
We installed Words in Red for Masterpiece Christian Fine Art Foundation in Sedona, Arizona to hang the month of September 2018. Our gracious hostess provided both our lodging, meals and fellowship. She will always be a dear friend. I painted this as my way of showing our appreciation for all she gave.

Fruit makes a great study. I'm not the first to discover this. You make a painting with fruit as the subject and you have something very easy to live with. The beauty of a pear, or blackberry, will not bruise or perish. It will remain as long as the painting is hung on a wall. The elegance of something so quiet and simple keeps the eye returning. An artist can arrange such items in a painting, and the primary reason we bring them to our home is put away, that is, to nourish our body. What comes to our eye is the beauty of form, the light on surface, and subtle color and value transitions. A group of lemons can wait in quiet light, to be taken from the branch that supplied their full maturity. They are ready for the hands, to flavor and arrange.
